The song captures each dog’s personality through the everyday moments their family knows best: Paisley racing to the door with a toy, Bella finding her way into the family after being rescued near the soccer fields, and little Coco turning empty water bottles into her favorite toys.

“Husband… Father… Sailor… Healer… Friend.” honors the life of Steven Douglas Fisher Sr.—a Navy veteran, husband, father, grandfather, healer, mentor, builder, and man whose life was shaped by determination and service.
The song follows his journey from childhood in Chicago and Pasadena to military service aboard the USS Ernest G. Small during the Vietnam era. It remembers the young love and family life he built afterward, the businesses he created, the trials he endured, and the new calling he found as a respiratory therapist after surviving cancer.
It also preserves the quieter memories that made him Papa: ocean waves, fishing and camping, Scout adventures, classic Packard automobiles, beloved dogs, family gatherings, and the lessons he passed to his children and grandchildren.
Commissioned by his family after his passing, this Heritage™ Songimony was created so the children and grandchildren who knew him—and the generations who come later—can encounter more than a list of dates and accomplishments.

Richard Dean Davis served in Europe during World War II with Headquarters Company, 56th Armored Infantry Battalion. His record documents service in Northern France, the Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe as a radio operator and combat infantryman.
Contemporary newspaper accounts credited him with helping hold off a German tank column and taking part in the capture of more than 160 German soldiers. In a letter home, Richard did not credit luck or personal strength.
He wrote simply, “God was with me.”

The music reinforces the camp curriculum by turning lessons about courage, faith, friendship, service, and personal responsibility into songs participants can remember and carry home.
Its call-and-response chorus—“Who’s got my back?” “I’ve got your back!”—gives the boys a shared declaration of loyalty and support.
